Elizabeth Page

Financial Controller

Accountancy might lack the glamour of other professions, but that's not to say those who practise it are unglamorous.

Who is Elizabeth Page?

A dab hand at Microsoft Excel, Page is responsible for the day-to-day running of Fleximize’s finance department. As well as preparing the company accounts, Page also processes the staff payroll and manages loan deposits for clients. In her spare time, she enjoys sun-seeking, cooking for friends and hitting the gym.

Elizabeth Page as financial controller

As Fleximize’s financial controller, Page is charged with making sure that all of the important numbers add up. She produces regular financial and operational reports, processes the accounts for Fleximize, and works closely with finance director Dan O’Sullivan to produce long-term business plans and financial forecasts.

Page’s other roles include managing relationships with suppliers, processing payroll for the company and generating cash flow forecasts. She also supervises Fleximize’s accounts assistant, training and mentoring him, while offering any assistance that he might need with his accounting qualification.

When she’s not crunching the numbers, Page pens the occasional article for Fleximize’s Knowledge Hub. One of her first pieces explored the difference between gross profit and net profit, a common source of confusion for many small business owners. As a Microsoft Excel magician, Page also revealed some of her best Excel tips for business owners in a comprehensive step-by-step guide.

What did Elizabeth Page do before she joined Fleximize?

Page kicked off her career working as a waitress at a small restaurant in Ipswich, Suffolk. At the age of 18, she joined Ariste Holding, a consumer finance company that was launched by Fleximize’s co-founder and managing partner Peter Tuvey.

Initially joining Ariste as an accounts assistant, Page was promoted to financial controller in July 2012. The role saw her managing a team of six accounts assistants, organizing their workloads and mentoring them whilst they studied for their AAT accounting qualification. Page completed her own AAT qualification at the end of the 2012.

When Ariste was acquired by US company EZCORP in 2012, Page assisted with the implementation of process controls that ensured the company complied with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. In February 2014, she left Ariste to join UX Energy Services, an energy procurement company based in Ipswich.

As finance and administration manager, Page was responsible for all of UX’s financials, including monthly management accounts and annual financial accounts. She liaised with auditors, prepared payroll and created policies for all departments, while also managing supplier relationships, HR and health & safety.

Page joined Fleximize as financial controller in January 2015, and became an ACCA-qualified accountant in January 2016.
