What did Jyoti do before she joined Fleximize?

Jyoti has a Master's in Creative Writing Prose Fiction from the University of East Anglia, along with a BA in English Literature with Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia. During her undergraduate degree, and for a few years afterwards, she worked as a freelance content writer and editor which involved everything from writing content for a range of apps and websites, to editing manuscripts and proofreading PhD dissertations.

A few weeks before graduating, Jyoti began working for the Britten-Pears Foundation (BPF) in Aldeburgh as a full-time marketing intern. During her time there, Jyoti wrote up a marketing plan for the organisation, along with liaising with global music producers on the future of the Britten Estate and providing support to the Head of Communications. After her initial graduate contract was over, Jyoti stayed on at BPF in an external relations role. Along with producing a social media marketing plan and providing support at the annual Aldeburgh Festival, Jyoti was tasked with project managing the content overhaul for the new company website.

After over a year of working in arts marketing, Jyoti took on a contract with Norfolk and Suffolk Police to help launch their new websites. Originally joining as a digital content writer, Jyoti was heavily involved in not only managing the content preparation and upload for the new websites, but also worked with the suppliers on everything from the design of the websites to reorganising the information architecture. During this time, she worked closely with the Government Digital Service to establish best practice standards which ensured content was written in plain English and was tailored to user needs.

After gaining experience in the public sector, Jyoti was keen to progress her career in content marketing, so accepted a role with a digital marketing agency in Norwich as Content Delivery Manager. There, Jyoti managed a team of writers and editors to deliver expertly-crafted content to a variety of clients across the travel, FMCG and b2b sectors amongst many more. She also used her previous experience refining business processes to completely overhaul the content delivery process of the company, streamlining functions and implementing new ways of working so that the team could produce better quality content faster.

She was soon promoted to Head of Delivery, overseeing operations for the Norwich branch of the business, including managing the in-house writer and account management teams along with a team of freelance editors and writers. After two years with the agency, Jyoti was keen to move to an in-house role and accepted her current position with Fleximize.

Away from her role at Fleximize, Jyoti was also recently announced as the winner of the 2021 #Merky Books New Writers' Prize and her debut novel will be published in January 2023.
